Are you ready for the digital switch over?
The UK is going digital – are you ready for the digital switch over?
Digital TV means more channels, better picture quality and more ‘on screen’ options. It also uses less bandwidth, which means more ‘space’ is available for other services, like wireless broadband, high definition, or HD, TV and niche programming. Whilst it does mean you need to make a few changes, on the whole, the digital switchover is a good thing.
So what do you need to do to get set for the digital changeover? We’ve put together a handy little checklist to help you out:
- Check the map below to find out when the changeover takes place in your region.
- Check you can receive digital TV – do you have a digital TV or a Freeview box?
- Can you record digital TV? Your old video recorder is no longer up to job – you’ll need a Hard Drive Recorder, PVR or Digital DVD Recorder.
- Visit our How To Record Digital TV page for more information on replacing your video recorder.
- Check out our Best Buys for our recommendations and great deals.
- When buying any new equipment, look out for the digital tick symbol to make sure you are buying equipment that will work after the switchover. All the products we recommend (and remember, we don’t sell Hard Drive Recorders, PVRs, Digital DVD Recorders, or anything else – so you can trust our advice to be impartial and unbiased) are ready for the digital switch over.
